Adventurers, prepare your trekking poles! Today, we will discuss one of our favorite Torres del Paine National Park areas, the great Serón Sector. This must-see destination at the park’s eastern end features vast expanses of vegetation all around you, places to camp and several services to make your experience unforgettable. The Serón Sector marks the beginning of the O Circuit. As such, it will be your first big step toward an adventure that will last days but be part of you forever. Let us talk about the Serón Sector.

The gateway to the O Circuit

As mentioned, the Serón will be your starting point for your 7 to 8-day journey along the O Circuit. Unlike the W, which departs in a westerly direction, the O heads east, then north around the park. Recall that the names of both circuits reflect the shape of the route. While the W goes up and down the park map, the O is a complete circuit that starts and ends at the same point.

Back to Serón, this sector is 13.5 kilometers from the Central Sector, which can take  3.5 to 4 hours to hike. The trip provides a small sampling of what awaits you, with lush lenga forests, the soothing sound of the Paine River and some of the region’s characteristic geology.

Serón Campsite: Tranquility in the Patagonian Pampa

When arriving in the Serón Sector, our visitors will find the Serón Campground an ideal option to rest after your first O Circuit trek. The campground has a large capacity to welcome hikers. It offers private bathrooms with hot showers, a dining room, a bar and Wi-Fi.

If necessary, you can rent equipment like tents, sleeping bags and insulation to ensure a comfortable experience in the middle of nature.

Our new Premium Camping Full Equipment is the perfect alternative if you are looking to camp without carrying much weight. Our 2-person (max) tents, pitched on an elevated platform 1.60 m off the ground, provide all the comfort you seek in this type of experience.

This program also includes a sleeping bag, a high-density foam mattress, a pillow and a welcome drink voucher (1 per sector). It is the best way to enjoy the Serón Sector!

An overview of the Serón Sector sights

It is not just about resting and waiting for the next segment of the circuit; Serón also offers several activities you can do during your stay, including:

Unlike other sectors with mountain ranges visible on all sides, Serón offers open panoramic views of the Patagonian steppe, with golden grasslands and mountains on the horizon. It is a quiet space to walk on flat terrain and take incredible horizon pictures.

It is also a good place to spot Patagonian fauna, like guanacos, condors, and even foxes. Always keep your distance from the wildlife and avoid interrupting their everyday activities.

The trail to Serón hugs the banks of the Paine River, one of the park’s main watercourses, with crystal clear waters from the glaciers. The small lagoons in the surrounding area make it an ideal place to rest for a moment, with the sound of the river in the background.
