Las Torres Patagonia, a sustainable tourism project, has been growing for over 30 years, promoting responsible practices in terms of the environment and local communities at Torres del Paine National Park. It has expanded its service offering over the years to provide a comprehensive experience. Today, Las Torres Patagonia offers hotel accommodations, mountain hostels and camping, outstanding cuisine and cocktails, and various activities, such as hiking, horseback riding and cultural experiences.
None of this would have been possible without the dreams, courage, and effort of the great women who have made history and are still writing new chapters at the company. As we commemorate International Women’s Day, we want to recognize all those great women who stand out daily.
In the 1990s, Amor Eliana Marusic and her husband, Antonio Kusanovic, dreamed of transforming their land, which had been used for cattle farming until that point, into a destination that welcomed travelers from all over the world coming to see the imposing granite towers that had become famous in recent years.
Amor’s vision fueled the project’s development with an ongoing commitment to conservation at Torres del Paine National Park. Her children, who shared her enthusiasm and dedication, later took over the business after their father’s passing.
Liliana was one of the great protagonists in the second chapter of the Las Torres Patagonia story. For 18 years, she led Las Torres Patagonia management, becoming a regional icon.
Like her mother, Liliana kept the business in the family, working with siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. Her son, Josian Yaksic, has led the company as Chief Executive Officer for several years now.
We would be amiss not to highlight the Bar Pionero team’s sustainability efforts, which Katherine Romero has advised in recent seasons. As an environmental engineer, she is attentive to every detail as she safeguards the conservation efforts that characterize Las Torres Patagonia.
Katherine began her journey at Las Torres Patagonia as a volunteer in our bio-intensive vegetable garden. She loved the place and met Federico Gil, the head bartender, with whom she now promotes different initiatives to protect the national park.
Katherine remarked, “Being a woman and working at Hotel Las Torres is to be a woman with space, a space where I have had the opportunity to grow, create and leave my mark without limitations or hurdles, demonstrating that women can achieve anything we set our minds to, without restrictions or limits.”
This season, Las Torres Patagonia welcomed its new People and Culture Manager, Pamela Camps, a professional with extensive experience whose leadership focuses on one of the most essential parts of the Las Torres experience: its people.
Pamela leads a team of professionals, primarily women, who serve staff needs and create a pleasant, memorable work environment within the different service areas at Torres del Paine.
The fruit, vegetables and herbs at Hotel Las Torres are an incomparable delight. Catalina Rojas manages the bio-intensive garden where they grow. She leads a group of agricultural professionals and volunteers who work hard throughout the season to deliver chemical and pesticide-free food grown in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park.
Catalina also leads a series of sustainability initiatives in the garden, transforming hotel waste into compost. Each season, her team also creates new sustainable strategies to care for the soil and develop products that are diverse and rich in flavor and nutrients.
If there is anyone who knows everything about Las Torres Patagonia, it is Macarena Maturana, our Key Account Manager for the Latin American market. Macarena has 20 years of tourism experience, 12 of which she has spent growing with us. She can usually be found at fairs and different events, representing our project and collaborating closely with renowned tour operators.
She demonstrates her commitment by always keeping the public up-to-date on the latest Las Torres Patagonia news and offering them first-class service. With Macarena in charge, our clients can be sure they will receive exceptional treatment.
As Sales Leader for Las Torres Patagonia, Elsa Miranda has broad responsibilities for several key processes in the Las Torres experience. She is responsible for the correct entry of bookings into the Tourplan system, balancing the team’s workload across the different sales channels and scheduling the sales executives’ shifts.
This year, Elsa celebrated 10 years with us. It has been a decade of outstanding accomplishments reflecting the joint effort and teamwork essential to their achievement.
This season, Hotel Las Torres welcomed a new leader responsible for creating unforgettable experiences in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. Paula Valdés joined the team as the new hotel manager.
Paula has extensive hospitality experience. She has led teams in renowned tourist destinations, where her experience enabled her to guide those under her supervision with a characteristic approach of putting the teams at the center of the operation.
Front desk supervisor Tatiana Morales knows her team is essential to kicking off the Hotel Las Torres visitor experience. She has spent her seasons with us providing service that marks the perfect beginning for our visitors.
Tamara is aware of the challenges involved in her position. She remarks that her female colleagues are “inspiring, powerful and unstoppable women. Let’s get to know each other, support each other and learn.”
Las Torres Patagonia is proud of our team of professional women who give their best daily, lead their areas, conquer new horizons each year, and provide the personal warmth that characterizes our service.
