Labor Day: The team behind the Las Torres Patagonia experience
Just a few days after the end of our 2024-2025 season, we would like to take a moment to recognize all whose talent, skills and commitment are essential to the experience of the thousands of guests we welcome between October and April.
As in any organization, there are areas whose quiet yet efficient efforts keep the various processes running smoothly. These roles are often invisible to our guests. Nevertheless, we would like to recognize them as we commemorate Labor Day and express our deepest gratitude.
Rodrigo Tobar - IT Manager and Systems Leader, Las Torres Patagonia
Rodrigo is our Information Technology expert, with over six years of experience at Las Torres Patagonia. He has become a key partner in the company’s digital processes.
Rodrigo called his experience “enriching, as I am constantly learning many things that give me new tools and skills.” As for his relationship with the team, he noted that he has “moved away from automatic and hierarchical methods and learned to get to know people beyond their work, to understand their emotions and to take a people-centered approach.”
Rodrigo has become a true lifesaver for our organization, providing critical IT solutions that enable many processes to move forward successfully.
Andrés Venegas - Head of Digital Marketing
As part of the Las Torres Patagonia marketing team, Andrés collaborates with various professionals to develop digital publicity materials and campaigns aimed at attracting new visitors to Torres del Paine National Park.
With four years of experience at Las Torres Patagonia and more than ten years in local tourism, he shares that one of his motivations for being in this job is his passion for tourism and its important role in developing the region’s communities.
“Personally, I really like working at Las Torres Patagonia. It is a place where you can grow and find out firsthand everything happening in Torres del Paine,” he said.
Milan Vilovich Soto - Central Sector Radio Operator
If we were to list employees with the longest tenure at Las Torres Patagonia, we would certainly include Milan, the Central Sector Radio Operator, who has been part of the team since 2000.
Milan has witnessed the evolution of the reserve’s various sectors over the past two decades. The most significant moments he recalls are the two fires that affected the national park, the introduction of widespread internet access at the company, and the construction of several remarkable projects in recent years.
“For me, it has been an enriching experience,” said Milan, agreeing with his colleagues that his time at Las Torres Patagonia has been important for “personal and professional growth.”
“Over the years, I have seen all the company’s growth in terms of personnel and infrastructure, trails and waste management,” he said, adding, “I am proud to have grown with the reserve all this time.”
Yohana Hernández - Head of Compensation
Yohana, Head of the Compensation Department, clearly summarized her experience at Las Torres Patagonia: “It has been comforting.” In her three years and four months with us, she has had the opportunity to learn, manage and make decisions that have allowed her to grow personally and professionally.
“When I arrived, this company was a whole new world. I have been exploring, and I have loved it,” said Yohana. She added, “It is true that the work is hard, but every effort ultimately has its rewards and satisfaction when we look back and see all the obstacles we have faced, sometimes successfully, and we have learned from others.”
Yohana’s responsibilities include paying all the employees’ salaries and ensuring they receive the expected compensation promptly and accurately.
In closing, she commented that she hopes to continue providing her services for a long time, contributing her share and working as part of a team.
Erin Sánchez - Circuits Program Coordinator
Erin is part of a great team of professionals coordinating the logistics of Las Torres Patagonia’s different programs for each guest visit.
On her experience, Erin commented that she has had a tremendous opportunity to grow since joining the company in 2011, “Las Torres Patagonia is an excellent school, where you learn about more than just tourism.”
Her work on the Coordination team excites her every day. She says it has allowed her to constantly practice her English, which she is very proud to have perfected.
“Working so closely with guests is enriching. I feel useful in making their travel experience better and better,” she concludes.
